Líria Varne é artista visual e atriz. Nasceu em São Paulo/Brasil e vive em Braga/Portugal. Concluiu sua formação em artes em 1998, e, em artes performativas, em 2000. Em 2023 iniciou pesquisa em Media Arts na universidade do Minho.
Em 1997, a artista definiu acrílico sobre tela como sua principal forma de expressão e ganhou, no mesmo ano, seu primeiro prêmio (no concurso SEMESP), com a tela Paz na Terra aos Homens de Boa Vontade.
De 1997 a 2013 se dedicou ao tema Fragmentos de uma subjetividade urbana, retratando pequenos “flashes” da vida na cidade. Sua linguagem, conforme aponta o pesquisador de artes da Universidade de Granada, Claudio Castro, apresenta uma evidente dialética entre tradição e contemporaneidade, delineando uma plasticidade singularmente atual: “A já aludida tensão entre o real e o imaginário, ou entre o eu e o mundo, faz da pintura de Líria Varne um universo cristalino e fabuloso, que, a despeito do discurso crispado do qual não abre mão, cativa o espectador ao convidá-lo a uma realidade estranhamente confabulada. Realidade que desvela, na expressão plástica, aquilo que a secura dos dias tanto se esforça por silenciar”[1].
Em 2013, desenvolveu “Azulejaria“. “Novamente, é das dualidades que nasce sua poética, numa “colisão” temática e pictórica entre sonho e realidade”, conforme descreve o pesquisador de pós-doutorado da FTC (Portugal), Carlos de Jesus, que identifica, também nessas outras obras, a convivência entre tradição e contemporaneidade: “All of this is for sure very meaningful in a style that combines, in a very strong way,
the expressionist use of colour with reminiscences of late-cubist drawing”[2]. A partir de 2013, ano que vivenciou duas exposições em Berlim a artista ampliou suas praticas artísticas executando esculturas em aço, papel e instalações. Em 2015 iniciou seu percurso em Media Arts.

Líria Varne is a visual artist and actress. She was born in São Paulo / Brazil and lives in Braga / Portugal. She completed her training in arts in 1998, and in performing arts in 2000. In 2023 she began research in Media Arts at the University of Minho.
In 1997, the artist defined acrylic on canvas as her main form of expression and won, in the same year, her first prize (in the SEMESP competition), with the work Peace on Earth to Men of Good Will.
Since then, Liria works in a research on the topic Fragments of an urban subjectivity, portraying small “flashes” of city life. Her language, as notes the art researcher from the University of Granada, Claudio Castro, presents a clear dialectic between tradition and contemporaneity, outlining a uniquely current plasticity: The aforementioned conflict between reality and imaginary, as well as between the self and the world, turns Líria Varne’s paintings into a crystal-clear and amazing universe that, in spite of its rough speech, captivates the spectator by inviting him into the meadows of a strange fairy-tale kind of reality. A reality that unveils, in its very plastic expression, what the hacking of the days keeps willing to silence”[1].

From 2013 onwards, the year she had two exhibitions in Berlin, the artist expanded her artistic practices by creating sculptures in steel, paper and installations. In 2015 she began her career in Media Arts.
